Warranted Piering Solutions For Sinking Foundation Slab Floors

What It Does:

Our specially designed slab pier system is used to stabilize and restore concrete slabs that have succumb to structural damage. Using interlocking steel sections, these piers are driven deep below your structure until they reach load-bearing soil strata.

Once the pier reaches load-bearing soil or bedrock, a specifically designed bracket is installed. Pressure from the home’s structure will be supported by this bracket and pier apparatus. The slab can then be lifted back into place using the pier as structural support.

How Slab Pier Systems Work

There are two types of slab piers: push-type slab piers and helical slab piers. Both are equally effective, but choosing one over the other depends on your unique situation. Both products involve small installation equipment and can, therefore, be used in tight spaces such as closets or bathrooms.

When installing slab piers, the first step is always to expose the soil beneath the structure by drilling a hole in the concrete.

Hydraulically driven slab piers are installed using a hydraulic press that drives the pier deep into the ground until it reaches load-bearing strata. Once the bracket is installed, pressure from the structure is transferred from the unstable soil to the pier. Using the pier, we then lift the slab back to a stable level.

Helical slab piers are installed using a drive motor to rotate the pier wile applying downward force. The blades of the helical pier drill deep into the soil and anchor the pier in the soil. Once the pier has reached the correct anchoring depth, a bracket is installed on which the slab is stabilized.

After the repair is complete, the holes around the piers are filled with concrete leaving the slab permanently stabilized.

Slab piers are useful in just about all cases of foundation damage. However, if the slab is extremely thin or the extent of the cracking has left the slab too unstable to be lifted. The chart below outlines the advantages and disadvantages to each type of concrete slab floor repair:
