Mount Valley Foundation Service Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity
The Mount Valley Foundation Service (MVFS) team has been getting their hands dirty for a worthy cause. As part of the companywide Build Together 2023 initiative, employees assisted in home builds in their local communities.
Groundworks®, the parent company of Mount Valley Foundation Services, donated $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity International to support long-term stability through safe and affordable housing. The partnership is part of the Goodworks by Groundworks program that encourages employees to volunteer. 4,500 employees across the country will have the opportunity to volunteer with local Habitat chapters this year.
Greenville
MVFS team members in Greenville partnered with HFH of Greater Spartanburg on June 24 where 11 team members gathered at the build site on Fulton Avenue to paint the exterior of a new home. The project was featured on a local news broadcast, WSPA (CBS) Spartanburg.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Spartanburg was grateful for MVFS’s support in creating a new environment for a deserving member of the local community.
Columbia
In July, the Columbia team volunteered to build a playhouse for a local child in need. Central South Carolina HFH hosted their first “Project Playhouse,” where local businesses and volunteers took part in designing and building a playhouse for a deserving family.
MVFS employees constructed a pink and purple playhouse for Tiffany and her five-year-old daughter, Ka’lani. Tiffany is currently going through the Habitat program and will have a completed home for her and her daughter in the next few years. Ka’lani’s playhouse will travel with them when their permanent home is completed.
“Ka’lani is in love with the playhouse! She has been utilizing it and even cleaning it. It means the world to her,” said Tiffany. “Thanks again for the time and effort everyone’s put into this to make Ka’lani’s dream come true!”
Charleston
Mount Valley’s final build took place in August in partnership with Charleston Habitat for Humanity. Four employees were on site for 14 hours helping to construct a block foundation for a brand-new home.
Volunteers are crucial to the success of each Habitat affiliate. Charleston HFH is thankful for the efforts of the Mount Valley team and hopes they volunteer again soon!
